Summer 2008

Extended Day

We have Extended Day for children needing care before and/or after workshops and Kidspace.
Campers have activities indoors in air-conditioned buildings and outdoors. It is run by adult leaders with ollege/high school assistants (1-6 ratio).
There are planned activities orgainized daily. The fee for extended day is a separate charge from the camp/workshop fee.
You may add Extended Day at any time with at least ONE WEEK NOTICE. Please note that there will be a $5 late fee assessed for EVERY 5 MINUTES beyond the registered Extended Day period.

There are four plans to choose from:
Early morning (8am drop off):   $18 per week
Extended afternoon (4pm pickup): $20 per week
Extended afternoon (5:30pm pickup): $50 per week
AM and PM Extended
(8am drop off and 5:30pm pickup):

What do we do in Extended Day??
MORNING SCENARIO:
Each group has a sign-in sheet with a roster for that week.  Please sign in and out!  Ages 8-13
meet in the Gym area.  Ages 6-8 meet in the Lower School area, since it is where their classes
meet. Morning means everyone comes in at different time...so the activities are more low
key.  We usually have craft activities or games organized for those interested; many times
the craft activities (especially Perler beads) are a hit!
TIME FOR CAMP:
At 8:55, we help escort the children to their various camps or workshops.
AFTERNOON SCENARIO:
Ages 8-13 meet in the gym area. There are many spaces for campers to play...
Snack is served at 4:15 - 4:30 which is always the big event of the afternoon.  We serve macaroni and cheese (homemade), popcorn (freshly popped), cookies, quesadillas, cheese and crackers, watermelon, bagels and cream cheese, peanut butter and apples or crackers (yes, we watch out for our peanut allergies), fruit in season, and also we have the cooking classes make a snack for the group (that's always a hit!).  Over a nine week period, we lose our originality!
Ages 6-8 meet in the Lower School. They can play indoors or outdoors with supervision...
Like the older group, there is snack and usually that is when a story is read to them.
We try to make our Extended Day activities fun and interesting!  Sometimes at the end of
the day, just being with a counselor and a small group of friends is sufficient, especially
when we have our super-hot humid days.  So just relaxing and reading books or playing
board games is fun, giving the campers a chance to socialize.
