Find out how bluegrass and the folk tradition started in Appalachia. Find out why Raleigh is a “metal” town and Chapel Hill was known for “grunge” before there was a Seattle? Make the first steps to continuing the music tradition and becoming part of a new folklore. We’ll work with rock music, fiddle music, African percussion, etc. Musicians can create unique sounds with acoustic instruments and voice. We’ll include harmonica, conga drum, and banjo. Musical experience is welcomed but not a requirement.

Ransack your closet or the thrift shop to find specialty garments, or take your favorite jeans and a T-shirt and transform them into a work of Art to Wear. Express YOURSELF artistically. We will use paints, dyes, needle and thread, anything to create an expressive piece of art that can be worn. Campers will contemplate who they are or wish to be and devise ways to express themselves through their wearable art. We will add a hat and stage a fashion show at the end of camp. This camp is an excellent way to gain the rudiments of costume making for theater and dance or to personalize your own clothing and make a statement.

First, we will help you come up with an idea then create the projects.  Maybe you want to create some flyers, make a scrapbook, write stories, sort and arrange a collection....or just get a better feel for using the computer as a tool to help you.
This is the first step to then getting into Web Design, creating movies, producing scripts and stories…we’ll help you expand what you already know and show you some new techniques.  We’ll take some Capture the Flag breaks, foosball escapades, and catch the shows on Friday (Comedy, Masks and Puppets, Clay, etc).  Stop just staring at the screen….use the machine!  Come join us for a cyber tech tour.
